The Day of the Missing Mojo

Puck - nap guruThere are some days when your Mojo cannot be found. That was my day today. So, I said, OK Mr Mojo, you can play that hide and seek game if you want, but I ain’t gonna come looking. Instead, I took a nap, did some journaling, chatted with a friend (who totally lifted my spirits), took a walk with the neighborhood happy dog, ate some soup, and guess what? Mr Mojo came back. Imagine that. Sometimes you just gotta give in to what is and not fight it.

This is “Living Your Bliss”. Not forcing things along when the flow isn’t happening. Resting. Taking a break. Giving yourself the opportunity to rejuvenate when all the messages are telling you that is what needs to happen.

This is true both on a personal level, and within relationships too. Sometimes you just have to step back, take a nap from it all, and come back in a more rested frame of mind to your lover you just had some hard words with. Then you can think more clearly, have more compassion, be more forgiving. You have to do it with yourself first. 

Live isn’t easy. But it doesn’t have to be difficult. Give yourself a break. Let up on the need to be do, do, doing all the time. When Mr Mojo goes away take it as a sign that you need to slow down. Then curl up for that nap, or call that girlfriend that will lift your spirits, or take a walk with a happy dog. Mr Mojo will come back. Guaranteed.

I know it has been a long time since I have posted anything here, and there are many reasons for that, of which I won’t bore you with all the details. Just suffice to say that life has been full, and wonderful, and exciting, and juicy, and filled with love! All the stuff that “Living Your Bliss” is made up of. I’ve been working on a whole bunch of things, manifesting amazing gifts, and attracting all kinds of great opportunities to me, one of which I do want to share with you.
Therefore, it is with great excitement, (and some nervousness) that I unveil a “GoFundMe” campaign for myself. (All of the information about the campaign and why I am doing it is on the page itself.) It’s a huge deal for me to be doing this, and I have had to work thru a whole bunch of things to get to this place of launching! The Ever Winding Road of a Bliss-full Life

Where in the world has Bliss Coach Margie been? About a year ago I wrote a post where I suggested that I might not be writing to much in the future, as I just might be to busy living and blissing out on life. Sure is funny how we can know what’s coming even when we don’t know!

Little did I know I would be re-visiting some of my gypsy life-style, as I traveled from AZ to VA, (where I now find myself in the moist and beautiful hills of Floyd County ) via Dallas, New Orleans, Tampa, and Atlanta, then onward up to W VA, and continuing onto CT and MA before winding back down to VA again. Whew. I think it is time to write that book about being a gypsy traveler and how to do so in comfort and fun, and most important frugally!

The photo above was taken at the beginning of my trip just outside of the small community of Bisbee, AZ, where I have been living for the last 12 yrs. Ahhh…. my beloved desert, wide open expansive vistas, big sky, sun and more sun, warm, dry….all the things that work so well for me. Funny how sometimes life keeps you somewhere longer than you anticipate, allowing you to fall in love with all that is around you. Boy, I sure do miss those beautiful views.

Now, as i find myself in the hills and hollers of VA, where I can see only about a 1/4 of a mile across the river to the hill on the other side, and everything is green, green, green and often it is wet, wet, wet, and the skies are gray, gray, gray. Sigh. Funny how life puts you where you least expect to be.

So, what put me on the road to begin with?? A desire for more fulfillment in my life. A yearning for intentional community. The recognition that change would be good. The need to be closer to my ailing father. A sweetheart. Funny how life helps to make it happen once you put it all out there.

The journey to a Bliss-Full life can be a long and winding road. Sometimes we get really tired and just wish we could “get there”. (I’ve been in that hotel bunches of times!) Sometimes we end up taking a side trip somewhere, and never getting back on the original  road. Sometimes we think the journey is going to end up in one place, and we end up somewhere completely different. And sometimes the road is bumpy and long, sometimes smooth and flowing. What we do with all these possibilities is really what determines the type of journey we will have. Ultimately, it’s the journey of our soul, and whether we have a burning desire to life a Bliss-full life, or not. Funny how you learn these lessons along the way.

And so, here I am. Right where I am today, settling into that which is, that which is appearing as my life right now. Recognizing it’s a journey, that life is one big road trip. Funny how life provides everything you need all along the way, all we have to do is to trust the process and recognize that every little thing that shows up in front of us is a sweet piece of the journey.

How prepared are you to hit the road with the next opportunity that comes your way? Are you in the flow of the journey that is your life?? What exciting things are just around the next bend for you? Take a moment to see where the road trip of your life is taking you. Is it where you want to be going? Is it time to take a side trip? Is it time to pull over and get some rest?

Sometimes, taking a road trip is the best thing to do, to open up the vistas in our mind, and to find a new sense of adventure. Just remember, where ever you go, there you are. So, be sure to pack a smile, a happy attitude, and a willingness to let the road show you the way. You just might be a little surprised where you end up.



Blissful Gratitude

Be Grateful.Wow! In this moment my heart is bursting with gratitude as I sit reflecting on all the wonderful things in my life. Mostly I am grateful for the work that I have chosen for myself. (Scroll down to see my detailed list!) Because of that, each day is a continuous opportunity to be “Living Bliss”, to practice “Getting My Bliss-ology On”, and to engage in “Bliss101”. I mean, if I’m going to advocate it, I have to be it, right? And what a gift it is!

Hey, don’t get me wrong. I have my days, and mood swings, and moments of not remembering. I’m not perfect. But as a Messenger of Bliss, I get to be constantly reminded of what choices are available to me, by my work. Some times, in those moments of darkness I hear the same words I shared with a client, and I burst out laughing. I’ve chosen many careers over my lifetime, and this one, by far, is the most fun, and the one that challenges me the most to live with integrity, purpose, passion, and authenticity. And that is an amazing gift to be uber thankful for, I think!

(Recently I interviewed a self-proclaimed “Joyologist”, Melodee Stumpf, on Bliss101Radio. We decided that when we become an honor student of Bliss-ology, we become Certified Joyologists! And, she shared about how she handles those dark days-take a listen, it’s a really fabulous interview.)

Along with the gift of my work comes many other things that I am immensely grateful for, which I’ve listed below. What are you grateful for? Are you paying attention to all the amazing things in your life? Are you sharing that gratitude?

  • Top of the list no doubt: YOU!!! Thank you for being the amazing personthat you are, for being in my life, for encouraging me to be the best I can be, just by being here. Yes, you are awesome!
  • The ability to live life on my own terms, to create and design the life of bliss I desire.
  • My dear friends who stick by me thru think and thin.
  • My Kitty-Luv, who currently is in my lap, with her head resting on my right wrist as I type this! Silly cat, doesn’t seem like a comfy way to rest, but I have to admit, that’s a look of bliss on her face. Ha! (see video on right)
  • Warm sunshine, soft wind, delicious moon-glow, starry nights, howling coyotes, sunflowers, pomegranate’s, expansive views, mountains…oh heck, all of Mama Nature!
  • Music that soothes my soul, moves my body, lifts my day, and inspires my heart. (My current fav’s: Prem Joshua and Herb Albert Tijuana Brass)
  • My Ecstatic Dance community-you dance me into Bliss!
  • Food on my plate, a warm house, a working car, things that make my life comfortable.
  • Eyes that see, hands that touch, ears that hear, a heart that feels, lungs that breath, a body that is healthy, a spirit that loves.
  • The opportunity to live yet another awesome day on this most amazing planet, with other incredible beings walking and laughing the bliss path.

How about making a gratitude list, and sharing it with your loved ones??

For me Thanksgiving is all about gratitude, and offering our thanks to the wonderful world around us. May you have an awesome Thanksgiving, surrounded by the very things that you are most thankful for.

Laughing Bliss

Happy SundayThis summer I became Certified as a Laughter Yoga Leader. Ha Ha Ho Ho HO! Oh my gosh, this is some fun stuff!!

We all have heard the saying “Laughter is the Best Medicine”. Well, as it turns out, there is a lot of truth to this. Laughter supports our immune systems, is great for our physical bodies, improves our mental/emotional frame, and even benefits our social situations. The benefits are way to many to not consider using laughter as a primary health and wellness tool.

Besides, it feels good and it’s fun!! Isn’t that a good enough reason?

Here are some interesting factoids:

  • The International Congress of humor found that laughter is down 66 – 82% worldwide of what it was in the 1950’s.

    In the 1950’s people laughed on the average 18 minutes a day. Today, we are lucky if we average between 4-6 minutes a day.

  • Children tend to laugh an average of 400 times a day. For adults however, it is a totally different story. A recent laughter study shows that: 64 % of people smile less than 20 times a day at home 72 % smile less than 20 times a day at work

  • 13 muscles are used to smile, but 47 are required for frowning. You have to smile nearly a quarter of a million times to make 1 wrinkle.

  • In terms of exercise, you can get the same benefits from laughing 100 times a day, as you can from 10 minutes of rowing.

  • 15 minutes of laughter equals the benefit of 2 hours sleep.

  • One good belly laugh burns off 3 1/2 calories.

  • Laughing for 15 seconds adds 2 days to your life span.

  • Research shows that only 30% of longevity is genetic. Therefor 70% you control with your mind on how you think, with your body on how you keep yourself in shape, and the lifestyle you choose to live.

So, why not choose to laugh? With all these benefits, it’s a giant step that we can take to bring more bliss into our lives. Laughing teaches us to look at the brighter side, to entertain a different perspective, and to not take ourselves so seriously. When we bring laughter more consciously into our lives, we attract other happy people into it, and our relationships are meaningful, joyful, and much more fun, and we make the choice to live a life of gaiety.  How fun is that?
